Listing Description

Why Art Matters Outcomes:

  • Promote the use of arts in the curriculum – the success of these courses will show that the can arts play a critical role in education and will give examples of best practice to inspire and inform teachers.
  • Raise attainment and aspirations — the children will be given the space to voice their opinions and express their values throughout the workshops.
  • Improve educational and aspirational attainment — the course will give the children a nationally recognised qualification.
    Children will relate positively to others — the children will work with workshop leaders outside of the school context and will work collaboratively with their peers during the sessions.
  • Improve family stability — this course will involve parent/carer participation in the children’s education and family learning.
  • Active and thriving community — the children have a chance to join our child ambassadors programme and parents and carers will join the Art4Space sign-posting service.
  • Increased self-esteem — the children will be encouraged to contribute to each session and will be given a safe space to explore their creativity and learn new skills.
  • Increased self -confidence — gaining an accreditation, learning alongside professional workshop leaders, working with their peers in a safe creative space, putting artwork into the public sphere.
  • Improved emotional health —the wellbeing aspect of the course will give the children tools to improve their wellbeing which they can apply to their lives and those around them during and beyond the length of the course.
  • More emotionally literate — the wellbeing aspect of the course will give the children a safe space to express their feelings in a group situation.
