The Children's Bookshow
The Children's Bookshow is a charity that inspires school children with a love of reading through an annual programme of theatre performances and in-school workshops with the very best authors and illustrators from around the world.
The Children’s Bookshow is an arts charity, funded by Arts Council England, that inspires children with a love of reading. We introduce children to world-class authors and illustrators through our programme of theatre events and in-school workshops. The artists selected are chosen from a wide variety of countries and cultures to give young people access to the very best stories, poems and illustrations from all over the world. We help teachers to provide their students with a rich and exciting experience of literature. The national tour takes place in the Autumn term in theatres and venues throughout England.
Each year, The Children’s Bookshow allocates sixty FREE in-school workshops to schools who attend the related theatre performances. These lively workshops offer an invaluable opportunity for the children to develop their own creative skills by working with an author, illustrator or poet in their own classroom. In addition every school that books a place will receive two free books in advance of their performance and every child attending an in-school workshop will be given a book by that artist to take home and keep.
Our performances are aimed primarily at primary school aged children, but older children with SEND are also very welcome.
