We bring inspirational volunteer role models to schools in London to offer small group tuition in English and Maths, with the aim of closing the attainment gap for pupils from low-income backgrounds. Pupils take part in ten weekly sessions to raise their attainment, improving on average by over twice the expected rate in one term.
We help schools in London raise the attainment of pupils in Key Stages 2, 3 or 4 through small group tuition. We aim to bring pupils to expected standard or a ‘good pass’ (Grade 5) at GCSE. Our target pupils are pupil premium recipients and those who are at risk of leaving school without the qualifications that will allow them to progress to the next phase of education.
This year we ran over 45 tuition programmes in over 25 schools across London.
We are committed to delivering a programme that really makes a difference:
Each session is run by a dedicated Programme Manager who is a qualified teacher, allowing them to provide high quality feedback and training to the volunteer tutors
We provide full resources for both pupils and tutors, developed by our expert consultants to bring pupils up to speed in key topics
We test pupils at the start and end of each programme to provide clear evidence of their progress, providing school partners with midway and final reports
We can also arrange an inspiring trip to a London university or top employer to create links between the academic sessions and the wider world
Many schools use our programme as part of their catch-up support for year 7 and 8 or to raise the attainment of their KS2 or KS4 pupils prior to exams.
We also run a specialised sixth form enrichment programme, training Year 12 and 13 students as tutors on our programme. This allows them to deliver our outstanding tuition sessions in their own school, or a partner institution, and receive extra training, UCAS support and mentoring on top of access to our normal suite of tutor benefits, such as access to our leadership qualification.
