Listing Description

The Peaceful Warrior programme uses sport (specifically Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) as a tool for change.

During the sessions, in addition to learning BJJ techniques, participants will engage in games devised specifically to foster the following essential skills: focus, effective communication, understanding and respecting personal space, understanding how they are perceived depending on their speech and body language, showing empathy and mindfulness. Several of these games will also serve as an introduction to meditation by incorporating breath control (we relate this to the Samurai; hence ‘Peaceful Warrior’) which will greatly facilitate the ability to emotionally regulate.

At the end of each term participants will receive certificates in recognition of their progress. They will also be assessed by coaches and they will receive official grading stripes as they progress in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Sessions will typically be once per week, on school premises and in school hours during term time – exact day and time will be agreed with the relevant school. Sessions will be 1 hour long.
