Little Box of Books provides great value, inclusive and representative story book boxes to primary schools. Our books feature characters from different races, cultures, family set ups and socioeconomic backgrounds, they are books that disrupt gender and disability stereotypes, where diversity is incidental to the storyline. We choose stories from top publishers and authors that feature Black or Asian main characters, characters with ADHD, Mums who wear headscarves, families that have two Dads or single parent families and this is all to help children develop a wide and inclusive idea of what ‘normal’ looks like. We choose books that help children to see themselves in stories , helping them to recognise and realise their potential and to help those children who are often over represented in stories, not to gain an over inflated sense of importance, but to see into the lives of others and accept and respect differences.
We sell boxes of 10, 20 or 100 books, split into age groups and specialism. We sell all our books in boxes, an efficient, quick way to diversify school bookshelves. Our boxes are for 0-3, 4-7 and 8-11 year olds, we have boxes for SEN and one particularly focusing on gender roles.
