Girls Who Code is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology. Girls Who Code is on a mission to change the image of what a programmer looks like by educating, inspiring and empowering girls to become the next generation of innovators and changemakers!
Girls Who Code Clubs are free programmes in which girls join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models and learn to use computer science to change the world. Clubs encourage girls to impact their community in a positive way through code.
Since 2012, Girls Who Code are proud to have reached over 185,000 girls, with a particular focus on reaching girls from historically underrepresented groups.
Girls Who Code Facilitators who lead our Clubs come from all walks of life. No matter your background or experience with computer science, you can be an awesome Facilitator and learn to code alongside your Club members with the help of our comprehensive resources and support. Clubs can run before, during or after-school, on weekends or over the summer.
In a Club meeting, girls engage in fun and simple online tutorials to learn about code and build community with each other through interactive activities. During each session girls work together on Girls Who Code Project, a coding project that addresses a real-world problem they care about.
The curriculum and programme model are flexible and customisable in order to meet the needs and skill-level of you and your students.
Beyond the comprehensive training, curriculum and resources that are available to Facilitators on Girls Who Code HQ, each Facilitator is matched with a Girls Who Code Clubs Success Specialist. Clubs Success Specialists are curriculum and programme experts who proactively support Facilitators in delivering high quality programming to the girls in their Clubs. Your Clubs Success Specialist will support with any aspect of your Clubs experience, including student recruitment and registration, prepping for Club meetings, setting up your Girls Who Code Project, completing tutorials, and locating resources on Girls Who Code HQ.
