Along with offering supplementary schools, we also offer specialised in-school programmes to secondary schools in order that they may achieve higher educational outcomes.

By working with the head of departments at schools, we can bring one or more of our programmes into a ready-made school environment and deliver quality teaching to either support struggling pupils or help push strong learners further.

In the run up to sitting their GCSEs, students need as much preparation and practice as they can get. We would run the programme at your school for 5 hours every Saturday from 10am – 3pm. During this time, our teachers will take classes of 12 students in two hour periods. This will allow students access to extra tuition in both English and Maths for 2 hours each, or 4 hours of either subject or Science. There will then be one hour of assessment where students will complete past papers to monitor progress and familiarise them with GCSE-style exams.

Weekly Reporting: our teachers prepare a report card for each student each week measuring not just the progress in their academic work, but also their behaviour, attitude to learning, and punctuality. The report also grades homework from the previous week, lists the homework for the upcoming week, and gives a detailed assessment of areas that need improvement. This report is shared with the school every week.

Whole-Course Reporting: at key points throughout the course, gcse999 will provide a report for the school on the progress of the whole programme using students’ grades and attendance to show where the programme is being effective and where it requires a new approach.

Our ethos as a supplementary provider is based on being ‘supplementary’, i.e. outside the mainstream school. We believe that students, especially low-achievers and disruptive students, are given a chance of a ‘fresh start’ with anew teacher outside of the normal school hours.

For this reason, we feel our Saturday school model will help your students enormously in getting to at least a grade 5 in English, Maths and Science and for high achieving students the programme will be a leverage to boost their skills up to grade 9.

Just as one style of learning may work for one student but not for another, we know that no two schools are the same, each with their own unique strengths and challenges. If there is any element of our programme that you feel needs adapting to meet the needs of your students, we will endeavour to work with you to ensure you are getting the best service possible.

Depending on the size of your cohort, we may need to support our teachers with Achievement Coordinators. Our Achievement Coordinators are teachers or recent university graduates who will act as teaching support in class and provide broader inspiration for students. They will know what homework has been set and what each student needs to do to make progress. They will liaise with students and your school’s teachers to make sure work is completed between Saturday classes.
