Listing Description

Oxford Nanopore Technologies, supported by Universify Education, are delighted to host a fully-funded STEM day on Friday 24th May 2019, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Our STEM day will provide students the rare insight into working in a scientific technology company and discover the global impact scientists are making with nanopore sequencing technology. It is an exclusive event for A Level students, with guest speakers from NASA and scientists combating crop viruses using nanopore technology. The day is fully interactive: students will have the chance to use industry-leading nanopore technology under the guidance of nanopore scientists.

The event takes place alongside Oxford Nanopore’s annual London Calling conference where over 700 users of DNA sequencing technology come together to share their work.

This opportunity is open to all UK based non-selective state schools. Students should be in Year 12 or 13, have an interest in pursuing a career in science or medicine and be studying A Level Biology. Students are required to be accompanied by a teacher for the trip.

Schools will be taken on a first come first served basis. Registration deadline: 10th May 2019.
