With Ofsted now taking a closer look at how schools promote respect for everyone, is your school ready for the future? CSIE is offering schools an opportunity to benefit from a whole school equality audit which will give a clear picture of equality and diversity in your school. Alongside this you will benefit from a useful data set designed to evidence your successes.
Based on questionnaires from CSIE’s award-winning toolkit “Equality: Making It Happen – A guide to help schools ensure everyone is safe, included and learning”, this is a valuable opportunity to engage the whole school community, enquire into well-being of pupils and staff, and address all protected characteristics covered by the Equality Act 2010.
Indicative questions include:
Are people from different backgrounds treated with equal respect in your school?
Do all pupils feel safe and included?
Are staff confident to support pupils to challenge issues of equality and inclusion?
Do staff and pupils feel that they can be open about every aspect of their identity?
Are staff confident to support a pupil or colleague who comes out as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender?
Are staff confident about teaching pupils of all abilities?
Do school displays include positive images of all protected characteristics from the Equality Act 2010?
